Remembering Georgina Cooper—and Her Unforgettable …
Editor’s Note: Tragedy struck last week with the untimely death of model Georgina Cooper died last week. “You were an incredibly kind and funny human-being, Georgina. I/we all admired and loved you so much for the warmth, generosity and gentle mischief you brought to the world,” wrote Erin O’Connor on Instagram. One of the cool Brits of the ’90s and ’00s fashion scene, Cooper was known for her signature gap-toothed smile and positive can-do attitude. These qualities are on display in a 1999 Vogue editorial in which she is paired with Lauren Hutton (who famously also has a space between her front teeth).

DOMESTIC GODDESS: Getting the preppy dress code (khakis and a blazer) just slightly wrong, this supersoft jacket is very laid-back in summer’s coolest neutral. Khaki leather jacket, Burberry. Beige gauze blouse and wool trousers, Balenciaga Le Dix by Nicolas Ghesquiere.
PARTY GIRLS: Leather pants don’t have to howl “rock star.” The sex appeal is subtler when butterscotch replaces biker black. Hermès lambskin vest, and pants. Top, Giorgio Armani. OPPOSITE PAGE: Top, Balenciaga Le Dix by Nicolas Ghesquiere. Leather pants, Banana Republic.
KIDDING AROUND: Ultrathin leather (in a very modern tunic dress, with a V-neck and elbow-length sleeves) takes on the relaxed quality of Saturday-favorite cotton. Flaxen leather dress, Loewe.
